Sowers of Prophetic Hope: REGISTRATION FORM

#UISGPlenary2019 Registration online and Practical Information

Dear Sisters,

Greetings from the UISG offices in Rome.

Following the letter of convocation of the UISG Plenary Assembly, which will take place in Rome on May 6-10, 2019, in this second letter we would like to give you some practical information in order to help you to organize yourself to participate in this event.

Registration for the Plenary Assembly 2019

The Plenary Assembly is intended exclusively for General Superiors, who are members of the UISG. Participation by a representative of the General Superior is not ordinarily permitted, since members of the Union number almost 1900 and the capacity of the meeting hall is limited. Special cases should be submitted to the Executive Secretary.

All General Superiors who wish to participate in the Plenary Assembly of UISG must fill out the on-line registration form by clicking here

To enter your personal registration form you need to insert the following data:

  1. User ID: Your UISG Code Number (number only)
  2. Password: uisgplenary2019

Once you enter this site you will find some of your data which have already been extracted from  our data base. Please check to see if these are correct. If not please fill in the correct information. Please fill in all the fields.

If you don’t remember your UISG Code, please, click here

In the same form you can register for one or more workshops which will be held before and after the Plenary Assembly. Please, be careful not to register for two workshops which take place on the same day. Participation may be limited by the space available. Preference will be given to those who live outside of Rome. Attendance will be confirmed by email.

Just a reminder:

The section ‘Council of Delegates’ is reserved only for the Delegates of the UISG Constellations (or their substitutes).

Those who need a letter of invitation in order to obtain an entry Visa for Italy, must request it either from:

(a) Sisters from their own congregations – if the congregation has a convent in Rome or Italy

(b) from UISG – using the form enclosed in the on-line registration process and providing a copy of the passport.

The necessary paperwork for the authentication of the letter of invitation by the Vatican will only be prepared after the receipt of the registration form and the passport.

Once the registration form has been completed fully you can print it by clicking on the appropriate button. This will allow you to save the information you entered on the form and eventually to present it at the registration desk on the first day of the Assembly in Rome.

If in the months before the Plenary Assembly you celebrate a General Chapter with the election of a new General Superior you can change the data on the on-line registration form, but not later than March 1, 2019.

Registrations must be completed no later than December 31, 2018.

Registrations will be accepted in the order in which they are received and as long as space in the meeting hall remains available. Registrations sent by fax or email or will not be accepted.

The registration fee is €480,00 or $570 and this covers all expenses including the hiring of the rooms, assembly materials, simultaneous translation system and translators, lunch in the hotel from May 6 to 10, the mid-morning coffee break and others. We have not increased the registration fee. You will find the various methods of payment on the registration form.

If you wish to stay at the Hotel Ergife Palace, you must make a reservation directly with the hotel http://www.ergifepalacehotel.com/ You need to tell them that you are attending the UISG Assembly in order to get the discount.

Unfortunately, the UISG can only offer limited help to a small number of participants for travel or lodging. General Superiors who require financial help should apply to their own Bishops or to appropriate donor organizations.

I conclude by encouraging you to participate in this important event in the life of UISG, as we explore how we can become sowers of prophetic hope in our needy world. More than ever we need to express the universality of religious life and our solidarity with one another in serving the needs of the world. The desire of the Executive Board and Staff of UISG is that we to do all that is possible so that this Plenary Assembly may be an authentic celebration of religious life.

Thank you for your collaboration, for the continuous support given to UISG and for everything you do for the religious life, and in the service of your congregations.

Sincerely in Christ,

Sr. Patricia Murray ibvm

Executive Secretary of UISG

Rome, July 16, 2018

Dear Sisters,

Greetings of peace and joy from the President, Sr. Carmen Sammut msola, from the Executive Secretary, Sr. Patricia Murray ibvm, from the Executive Board and from all the staff working in the offices of the UISG in Rome.

In this time marked by the newness and fullness of Pentecost I have the honour and the pleasure to announce and convoke the XXI Plenary Assembly of the UISG that will take place in Rome, at the International Center, Ergife Palace Hotel, from May 6th  to May 10th 2019.

The theme of the 2019 Plenary Assembly is: “Sowers of Prophetic Hope” – “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the LORD, plans to give you a future full of hope”. (Jer 29: 11)

The choice of this theme is the result of a process of reflection, sharing and collaboration that involved a variety of people: members and delegates of the UISG constellations, conferences of religious women and men, Vatican dicasteries and other ecclesial and non ecclesial bodies. It is also the fruit of an attentive look at today’s world with its needs and calls, from the theological and ecclesial perspective of Consecrated Life with its identity and mission.

The Plenary Assembly of 2016, that had as its theme “Weaving global solidarity for life”, was the starting point of this three-years journey, which has been enriched by many important events, both internal and external to UISG. These have also contributed to shaping the focus of the next Plenary Assembly:

  • The UISG activities include in particular:

*Seminars and webinars on: Communication, Formation, Migrants, Trafficking, Interculturality, Environmental Care, etc.

*Seminars and consultations on Canon Law for congregations on issues that have become increasingly urgent: reorganization, numerical decrease and mergers, resignations, constitutions, community life, authority and delegation in consecrated life, etc.

*The Council of Delegates, held in Manila in November 2017.

  • Participation in many continental meetings of religious and in assemblies of Conferences of Religious
  • The documents of the Magisterium of the Church, in particular, the Encyclical “Laudato si” (2015) and the Apostolic Exhortation “Gaudete et exsultate” (2018).
  • The CICLSAL documents and activities that preceded and accompanied the celebration of the Year for Consecrated Life (2015): Rejoice; Keep Watch; Contemplate and Announce; “New wine for new wineskins: From the Second Vatican Council, consecrated life and challenges”; the International Symposium on the economic management of Congregations, November 2016; the International Congresses on Consecrated Life, March and May 2018.
  • The preparation for the Synod on Youth, 2018.

In addition, the reality of trafficking in human beings, the challenge of interculturality in the world and within religious congregations, the need for interreligious dialogue, the many situations of violence and conflict, the urgency of caring for our planet, the new guidelines for the protection of children and vulnerable adults  are a call for us to be sowers of prophetic hope for our world.

The 2016 Plenary Assembly was preceded by a workshop on Canon Law for the Superiors General gathered in Rome. The success of this initiative has encouraged us to offer again in 2019 a series of thematic workshops that will take place in the days before and after the Plenary Assembly. These will enable the Superiors General coming to Rome from all over the world to participate in other initiatives which offer opportunity for formation and interchange.

We will offer the following workshops:

May 2-3,  2019

  1. New approaches to the Institutional Care of Children
  2. Developing policies and procedures for the protection of children and vulnerable adults
  3. Communication at the Service of Mission

May 13-14, 2019

  1. Canon Law for Congregational Leaders
  2. Communication at the Service of Mission

The Council of Delegates of the UISG which will be both elective and deliberative will be held on May 13th and 14th, 2019.

In the near future we will send a second letter containing additional details and practical information, including how to register for the various events.

I strongly encourage your participation in the Plenary Assembly which is of great importance for the life of the Union, and which is an “organ of consultation, animation and reflection at the international level of the Superiors General” (UISG Statutes, 10) at the service of Consecrated Life in the world.

I pray for the fullness of the gifts of the Spirit of God, who alone can lead us on the paths of communion and solidarity, for you and your Congregation.

Sr Carmen Sammut, msola

UISG President
